Connor McKnight: The Art of Waiting, Fashionably.

Waiting is something we're all familiar with. We wait for our favourite Netflix show to drop, for Uber eats to arrive, and for our loved ones to return home. Waiting is part of our daily lives. Sometimes waiting can make us anxious, while other times it brings a sense of comfort. For fashion designer Connor McKnight, this feeling of waiting inspired his latest collection.

McKnight often explores themes of everyday life in his collections. This season, he wanted to delve into more emotional territory. He recalls his grandfather's wisdom about finding fulfilment later in life, resonating with his own feelings of stagnation and anticipation for change.

To capture this mood, McKnight focused on informal wear. He wanted to showcase the clothes people wear upon arrival, rather than during the journey. His collection featured finely tailored suits with a modern twist, along with breezy summer separates in hammered silk. Signature details like gusseted pockets and pleated vents added depth to wardrobe staples, reflecting McKnight's knack for practical yet stylish design.

The recent opening of McKnight's new showroom in downtown New York marked a significant milestone in his career. While he has been based in Brooklyn for some time, this event signalled his formal debut as a designer in the city. McKnight acknowledges that he has taken time to figure things out in his career, but he feels that this season's collection represents a turning point. He describes it as his strongest yet, showcasing his growth and maturity as a designer. Though he's hesitant to claim that he's arrived, McKnight believes that things are finally falling into place.
